Race 18, Bighorn Upper
Originaly race 18 was to run at Fallout in June, but poor attendence reduced it to mearly a fun run. So in July a double header was planned for Rock City and Bighorn. But the threat of wet weather forced us to abandon our run thru the
flood channel and instead break the 1 run ino 2.
As usual, we were waiting on someone. This time it was Johnny Dog with his newly aquired ...cart from Fastdonnie which had been drasticaly modified from it's previous incarnation and as of yet, unnamed.
This run would start from the hill apex and run about 3 miles to the ghost town below. As Quaker Chevelle, Johnny Dog, and Cobra lined up on the road, the start was sounded and the fun began. The steep straight run at the start favored Johnny Dog as he pulled ahead and held the lead. Cobra slipped in behind for a draft but was unable to match the heavier machine. Quaker, still running the feather weight Hawaiian Punch settled in for lonely run in the back. Recent rains had left flows of dirt and gravel across the road and provided dust screens for Johnny to pull of an impressive "ninja vanish" affect as well as pelt down debris upon the not too distant Mayhem. Even with feeling the need to apply brakes in a corner or two Johnny held well enough of a lead to finish 10 seconds before the champ and a season before Mr Chevelle.
So with great class and burried animosity Cobra handed over the coveted trophy to Johnny as he took the 2nd place trinket for the first time in his NUDRS career. Quaker could be seen bragging about his podium finish to his wife on the phone.
1st - Johnny Dogg / unnamed
2nd - Cobra / Mayhem
3rd - Quaker Chevelle / Hawaiian Punch
