Race 17, Jackass Slopes
After Quaker's misplaced keys incident we drove to our next venue at Jackass Slopes where we once again left oone vehicle at the bottom and towed carts up to the top.
Once at the apex and with darkness falling fast, Cobra, Fat Guy, and Quaker Chevelle lined up and set off at and imediate 180 degree hairpin. Once again Fat Guy in Chicken Coupe fell behind as Quaker took the lead with Cobra close behind. Rounding the second corner Quaker went into a slight drift as Cobra came beside him for a pass. But
in the 2nd hairpin Cobra was too wide and too fast as he hit a patch of gravel and spun off the road backwards into a hill as Quaker continued on and Fat guy sped past.
In some degree of luck Cobra was able to maneuver his spin in a way such that he rolled back onto the road in reverse and then performed a quick spin andgot rolling forward again without any need of getting out of the cart. Fat guy was cutting every corner trying to take advantage of and keep his currnd 2nd place but saw Mayhem pass after only a minute or so. Quaker was out front and wondering what happened to Cobra, not having seen the spin earlier.
By this time the light had faded and Mayhem was catching Hawaiian Punch but the finish line was near. As Quaker was preparing his victory dance in his mind, Cobra blasted past in the last 100 yards or so to steal the win. Quaker crossed soon after for second with Fat Guy a good ways back for 3rd.
Best part about the race was.... this time I had Quaker's keys.
1st - Cobra / Mayhem
2nd - Quaker Chevelle / Hawaiian Punch
3rd - Fat Guy / Chicken-Coupe
