NUDRS Rules
NUDRS has modeled it's self after organizations such as the SFVISBF and the AIGRF. Being impressed with the ingenuity and resorcefulness of the carts and drivers, NUDRS has also decided to keep rules at a minimum so that one's imagination is free to create and build.
But speaking of rules, we do have them, a few in fact. It is the responsibilty of the driver to know them when showing up to ride.
Be aware! Just because we are few on rules does not mean that we are an "Unruly" bunch. All drivers are expected to act and behave responsibly with their own equipment as well as to other drivers and their stuff.
Most importantly, remember, this is a club, not a leauge. Meaning that winning matters little, nor do trophies or stickers. We meet together to have fun and to run down hills. Once winning becomes more important to you than the spirit of competition, NUDRS will excersize it's right to exclude your petty arse. You will play nice, or you will not play.
So, in the spirit of fellowship let's review the rules.

Cart Construction
Be creative in your engineering and styling. Looks can be important.
1 - All carts must have 4 wheels in the traditional configuration: 2 front and 2 back, 2 left and 2 right. All wheels must be pnumatic (filled with air, no solid tires). All wheels must support the wieght of the cart and offer stability (no training wheels or faux wheels).
2 - All carts must have proper steering such as pitman arm with tie rods, rack and pinion, ect. You may not use foot guided, rope pulled, or lean-to steering systems.
3 - All carts must have effective brakes on at least the 2 rear wheels. All 4 wheels is better but not required. Acceptable brake systems include disks, drums and scrubs. Unacceptable systems include, parachutes, anchors and "Fred Flintstones". Bike brake pads are acceptable if backed up by an auxilary (approved) braking system.
4 - All carts are propelled by gravity only. No motors, engines, bands, shifting weights, levers or other clever devices. All runs will be started at a "dead-stop" without a push, bump or shove from you or another. You may rock your own body back and forth for momentum, but you may not roll your wheels with your hands or shove off from the ground or another cart. Do not try to out think this one, any cheating will result in an instant DQ and you will not even get a DNF. You will simply be listed as not even having been in the race. Clear?
5 - No cart may have weapons of any kind, decorative or not. No spikes, blades, guns, squirters, tossers, launchers, droppers, spillers, projectiles, liquids, traps or flashers. This is not Death Race, Spy Hunter or the Hippodrome. Leave you play stuff at home and keep the hill safe.
6 - No cart may exceed 500 lbs of combined car and driver wieght. Any added weight must be secured in a fashion where as it could not come lose if the cart were to be tipped, flipped or spun out. The cart may not exceed 4ft in width, 8ft in length nor 4ft in hight. It must be able to fit into a standard 1/2 ton pick-up truck long bed. This next part is not madatory, but just good practice. Your cart sould be light and compact enough for you to load and unload by yourself, as well as light and compact enough for 2 people to lift and walk with.
*7 - A tow ring on front and back of your cart would be a good idea in the event your cart needs to be towed away and a truck/trailer is not available. This also allows multiple carts to be towed back to the top of the hill in a "train" by a single vehicle.

Cart Racing
SUCKER vs NUDRS
- NUDRS is a fee free organization. At no time will NUDRS require payment of any kind. You may be ask to chip in for stickers or t-shirts, but will never be mandated to do so. Declining a donation will not ever result in an exclusion from participating in NUDRS events. If you ever pay a fee of any kind in order to race with NUDRS, you have been duped by some knave. Don't expect refunds or sympathy. In fact, we may make you a special sticker for the occasion. Donations for the cost of sticker or other items may be asked for, but will not be mandated. Please help share the small costs of NUDRS items and gas money if hitching a ride with a buddy.
- Starting positions will be determined by one of two ways depending upon the consensus of the drivers at the beginning of the season.
1- A card draw before each event begins. High card then picks their preferred starting position first (to the left, right or somewhere in the middle) and all others choose accordingly. A second or third row of carts will be assembled behind the first row if necessary when the number of participants are high or start location in narrow.
2 - Reverse points starting order. The driver with the lowest season points total will have starting position preference, followed by the next lowest continuing all the way up to the point leader in the last position. If drivers are tied in points the order will be determined by the finishing order of the last race (in reverse). New drivers this season will always begin at the end of the starting line up for their first race.
- Starting positions will be 3 across in the right traveling lane with as many ranks behind as needed when starting on the road it's self. If starting from a particularly narrow road, a parking area, or wide shoulder the line may be altered or modified as seen fit by event coordinator.
- The starting count will be, " 3 ... 2 ... 1 ". All divers will release their brakes on the utterance of " 1 ", and not before. After is just fine, but you will be starting later than the rest who went on " 1 ". Plus, you may anger those behind you if you slow their start.
- All runs will commence at a "dead-stop" without a push, bump or shove from you or another. You may rock your own body back and forth for momentum, but you may not roll your wheels with your hands. Do not try to out think this one, any cheating will result in an instant DQ and you will not even get a DNF. You will simply be listed as not even having been in the race. Sound familiar?
- All carts run at the same time, no groups or time trials (unless a special event calls for them such as the Cactus Classic Challenge). The first cart across the finish line will be declared the winner and receive a "winner" sticker and the trophy. Any cart that does not cross the finish line under it's own rolling power will receive a score of DNF (did not finish) and a "DNF" sticker. All others will receive a "race completed" sticker. Last cart across the finish line will also get a special trophy.
- All drivers will observe lane etiquette, meaning, stay in your lane of travel. You do not travel in the left lane unless you are passing another cart and there is no coming traffic, or can clearly see there will be no coming traffic and wish to avoid an obstacle in the right lane. When traveling in the right lane it is proper to stick to right side of that lane. Do not bounce back from side to side in the right lane! Do not intentionally move in front of a faster moving cart to block him from passing! These actions can cause accidents with those behind you trying to pass or following. If someone is able to pass you, they earned it. Allow them to pass.
- "Rubbing is racing." NUDRS does not condone cart contact while moving, but realize that these things can happen. Any malicious acts of bumping will not be tolerated. Keep contact with your cart and others to an absolute minimum and forgive others' mistakes. It's all just for fun after all.
- Ties are ties. No tie-breakers will be run except in championship events.

Cart Scoring
The season champion is decided by over all point totals.
- All drivers that complete a race receive 1 point. This is to reward all drivers just for showing up and making it to the end of the hill. The guy who comes twice and gets 1st both times will still lose the season to the guy that is always there but finishes mid to last every time.
- First place will receive 3 additional points.
- Second place will receive 2 additional points.
- Third place will recieve 1 additional point.
- Any driver who acheives a DNF recives a 0.5 pitty point for the effort they gave.
- Ties are ties. Both drivers get the higher point value. No tie breaking run will be held except in the event of a special championship race (ie. the Cactus Classic Challenge) or to decide the Season Championship standings. The winner of that tie breaker will then only be awarded 0.5 of a point.

Cart Equipment
Melons are not approved safty equipment.
- DOT aproved full face motorcycle/ATV helmets are required to race. No-face and half-face helmets are unacceptable for (hopefuly) obvious resons. Without a helmet you shall not race with NUDRS.
- Roll bars and a 5-point harness are very very very good ideas for a cart that moves faster than a desert tortoise. Even tortoises have protective equipment.
- Motorcycle gloves and jackets are highly encouraged, as is protective eyewear.
- Long pants, long sleeve shirts and boots with ankle support are encouraged as standard attire.
- Neck collars and arm restraints are good ideas for additional safty.
- Mirrors on the cart should be concidered for those who have a difficult time seeing behind them while in the cart with protective items being worn. That would be almost everyone.
